Matt
I had just gotten outta the Army, (serious drinking) and started college at LSU. I'm from Louisiana as you know from my mailing address. I joined a fraternity, (serious drinking) and on New Years Eve my senior semester, we headed to NOLA to celebrate the occasion after spending the entire day drinking at a football game. I had an SUV so I drove. We stopped to fuel up for the trip and grab supplies, (BEER). 5 miles out of town I wrecked the vehicle flipping 11 times and throwing everyone out of the vehicle. The interstate was laden with beer and my friends. My fraternity brother died and a young guy I met at the game who just wanted to hang with us passed away as well. My girlfriend and myself were seriously injured. I was convicted of 2x of Vehicular Homicide and sentenced to 6 years in prison.
Thanks to letters and pleading from the deceased parents and my family support, I did not serve the complete sentence. Once released, I went back for my senior year of college and graduated from LSU. I have been a Director of Logistics for 20 yrs, have an awesome wife of 10 years, a great home and two beautiful children. My son is in medical school at Tulane and my daughter attends a private college in Myrtle Beach, VA.
