Button-Up vs. Button-Down Shirts: What’s the Difference?
A button-up shirt fastens with buttons along the front. A button-down shirt is a more specific type whose collar points fasten to the shirt body with small buttons. Every traditional button-down is a button-up, but not every button-up has a button-down collar.

What Is a Hidden Snap Collar?
A hidden snap collar secures the collar points with small snaps concealed beneath them. From the outside, the collar can look like a point collar without visible buttons while the snaps help hold the tips in position.

How Should a Button-Up Work Shirt Fit?
- Shoulders: The shoulder seam should sit near the edge of your shoulder without pulling sharply across the back.
- Chest: You should be able to button the shirt without gaps or strong horizontal strain lines.
- Movement: Reach forward and raise your arms to check whether the shirt restricts the intended activity.
- Length: Confirm the body length works for how you plan to wear the shirt.
- Collar: Fasten and release any hidden snaps to make sure the collar sits comfortably.
