When I was 7 years old, my stepmother murdered my father. She shot him in Cookeville, Tn and took his body to KY where she burned him. I went to live with my grandparents. My grandfather was a nightmare of a drunk. He would beat my grandmother mercilessly until I got old enough to step in. In 2011, my stepfather beat my mother to death. The common thread for all the pain in my life is drug abuse & addiction. I chose to not let where I came from dictate where I was going. I was determined to break the cycle that I was brought up in. Now, despite the horrors of my childhood, I am a nurse married to a beautiful woman and I have 6 sons. Our past doesn't dictate our future.
