I’ve been sober for the past 25 years now. I started drinking heavily when I was in high school. I would drink from the time I got up until I fell asleep. My family had sent me to rehab in my sophomore year of high school. I was good for a month or so then right back to it again. Battled with it off and on but always went back to the bottle. It took my wife and son to finally to get me to quit. I finally saw what it was doing to them and how I was hurting them. I wanted to be there for my son as he got older and my wife left me for a while because of the drinking. I have the urges every day and I have to fight them every day. I have someone that I work with that is dealing with it now and I talk to him about it every day. Every day I thank god for saving me and giving me the strength to deal with my demons.
