On January 25th of 2023 I went to ER because I wasn't feeling well. Went thru several tests and finally got diagnosed with liver failure. I got out of the hospital for about a week and developed an infection in my blood. I got diagnosed with sepsis. I actually died twice from this. 4 months later my MELD score was high enough to get me on the transplant list at Cleveland clinic. On July 7 I received my liver. I was back and forth for 3 months between hospital and PT/OT. I had developed high temperatures nearing 104 3 different times. Each time set me back about 1.5 weeks for rehabilitation. During the 9 months in hospital I developed severe muscle atrophy. Finally got out of the hospital and finished therapy. Got home for about a week and got stung by a yellow jacket, lost balance, fell, broke my back in 2 places and had a small brain bleed. I'm now out of the hospital for hopefully the last time and back in therapy to regain muscular dexterity and agility. My name is Joe Posey and I hope in some way my story of facing my demons and leaving them behind can inspire, encourage or comfort someone who needs to hear this.
